This representation of the Formosan Sika Deer, endemic to Taiwan is the first piece I’ve been working on while in Taipei.

These initial artworks reflect my obsession with local flora and fauna, but this time I’ve paired them with an interest in traditional facial tattooing and costume of the native Taiwanese Aboriginals.

On a more contemporary note, as I walk this city, there are many gorgeous red chinese paper cuts hanging in windows, you may have seen these before as they are absolutely quintessential to chinese culture.

I can’t wait to explore these notions further, but for now here’s my take on all this, bringing together the old and the new with the natural and the urban.  xxflox #floxintaipei
