TAIPEI ART JOURNEY CONTINUES

TAIPEI-POST-TWO-4

Feeling really lucky to be here in Taipei, and doing what I love the most. There is so much going on all around me, socially, culturally and environmentally so you can only imagine how artistically charged one can feel!  These early works reference my interest in Taiwan’s native species, and the efforts around the balance between conservation and economic development in this country.  The Formosan Black Bear and Sika Deer as I’ve discovered whilst here, are national treasures, and so I’ve emphasized their worth, crowning them with local orchids and adorning them with Taiwanese traditional tattoo, a mark of respect.

From a technical point of view, I’m re-creating a whole library of stencils, so it’s tough work. But it’s exciting to know that I’ll soon get to paint these in refreshing urban landscapes, here in my new adopted town. Watch this space #floxintaipei flox xx
