Lovingly recreated from the hand painted MĀNU drip works, this digital series is part of a collection of artworks that pay homage to the beautiful oddities that occur throughout our natural world. The Tūī and Fantail depicted in this series, hold a condition called leucism, where their plumage can be entirely white, or display patches of white whilst their eyes colour remains dark.
The white birds featured are our beloved and rare white Tūī, Piwakawaka and Kotuku. To spot one of these treasured birds in the wild would indeed make for an inspiring and unique experience.
